Baby Pearls Birth Story

We went to the hospital on Monday for a scheduled induction bright and early @5:30 am after eating some breakfast. We checked in and got settled in the labor and delivery room, the nurse began the induction using Prostaglandin gel and I had no pain medication.
(I hate the feeling of numbness from epidurals and the recovery after epidurals is terrible!)
I had to have the gel 3 times and was dilated to 6.5 cm and 75% effaced after 10 hours of being induced. The nurse accidentally broke the amniotic sac and it was then that the pain got more uncomfortable and almost unbearable, so the nurse sat me up higher
to allow gravity to help bring baby lower.

Not even 5 minutes had passed after I was sitting up
I felt the baby move down and the urge to push was there.

The nurse didn't even finish preparing for the delivery and the doctor
was busy in surgery doing a c-section.

Now, let me tell you a little something, if you have never had a baby...
just imagine being told to hold a bowling ball between
your legs while your mid section and back have excruciating cramping pains and also
being told not to drop the bowling ball.
(Um, sorry but if she is on her way out she is on her way out!)

My husband was right by my side and was telling me,
“Hold on honey, don't push yet!"
The nurse ran to call for help from the other nurse's
while she was screaming saying, "Don't push yet!"

I ignored her tried my best to follow the nurse's directions, BUT there was NO way she was going to stay in there. So I did my best to slowly push her out, I couldn't control the urge and I just did what came naturally within seconds she came flying out
was born at 5:19 pm on the bed.

I cried tears of joy and relief and said,
“Sorry, dumb nurse but like I said she was just coming right out!"

My husband reassured me that I did a great job. She let out a beautiful cry and the nurses let my husband cut the cord. She was finally born and I was so relieved that the labor was over with.
They measured her, weighed her and brought her to her to my husband.

We were both overjoyed that everything went well and we hugged and kissed as
we enjoyed the sweetness of that moment.
When I held her the nurse was amazed that she was so strong and was already holding up her
head trying to look around with her eyes wide open, it was too cute!

I am so grateful to our Heavenly Father for answering our prayers and we are so grateful for the thoughts and prayers of my family and friends who read this blog. We are both recovering well and it is such a blessing to have my mom and dad here to share this time with us and mom's help with the house and kids as well. Our older kids are having fun with the new baby here and the girls love holding her as much as they can, the boys are doing great with her also. I better go put my feet up now because I have some water retention swelling that needs some TLC. Thanks again to all of our family, ward family and fans friends who read this blog and for all the love and support!

Lots of love,

The Mama Hood and fam

I am glad all went well.

And, I am totally with you...I had to hold my third one in...way harder than ever pushing one out...I suffered from hemrhoids for forever!!!

My hubby has always wanted to deliver a baby...I should have just pushed her out...he would have caught her, I'm sure.
