Our Valentine's Date

Today we went on our previously planned Surprise Valentine's date. My husband had no clue what I was planning and the suspense was getting to him. We headed out on our date and when we were near our destination I had him lean his chair back and cover his eyes with a blindfold. I stopped by Pat's BBQ and grabbed our previously ordered food and headed to our lunch spot. He was still blindfolded while I went to set up the table with our lunch in the building which happened to be the old restaurant where we met. It's currently a vacant restaurant within a large corporate building. Thankfully there were still tables left there from when we had worked there. To my surprise the front door was locked and so I put the food and things down then jogged around the building to the other side and went through another entrance. It was too funny because when I went to open that same front door it was securely locked so then I ended up using the back door and I propped it open with whatever I could find. Then I had to run around to the front again.

(Imagine watching a chunky prego woman jogging around in heels...haha!)
Next I had to grab the food and drinks and things I had left near the front of the building, making sure I didn't fall while running around the obstacle course--which was so beautifully created by construction crews on the sidewalk. Finally I had to return back to the front door and put the food and things back in the car and quickly cruise around to the back door that I had left propped open....I hurried in to set up then ran back out to get my husband out of the car. And after all that craziness....I guided him in to the old restaurant's dining hall.

My husband was definitely surprised and happy that his surprise was simple, yet it
celebrated and brought back memories of the place we met and fell in love.
I had the our plates set up on the table, along with our wine glasses and some sparkling cider
and a box that I created for us. I call it "Our Love Box". I decorated the outside with stickers and I put some Mod Podge over the stickers to protect them.

Our love box contains old letters, notes and cards that we gave one another
through the years. On the back of each card or note I put stickers that correspond with a certain date or activity. Each month my husband or
I will pick out one of the items and match up the sticker. For example
one sticker says, " Romance" and the coordinating activity is watching a Romance Movie.
He loved his surprise and I am so glad that things eventually turned out well.
After the restaurant we went shopping for items for our house, then we
went to watch "The Book of Eli" and ended our date eating dinner at
Olive Garden. I really am so grateful for my husband and I definitely look forward
each year we celebrate the holiday of "Love".
I LOVE you honey!
Happy Valentine's Day!
