A Time To Reflect

Easter time is especially special to me. Not only is it my birth month, but as a Mormon it is time to receive counsel from Church leaders. The atmosphere in Utah is especially affected by General Conference. Conference is a time for Missionary reunions, family get-togethers, pot-lucks--all while Downtown Salt Lake City is abuzz, like bees to honey.

Quiet and faithful LDS members dressed in their Sunday's Best dot the sidewalks. There is a sense of busy in the air. The busyness is often cut by subtle laughter and various chatter between family members, church members, non-members, friends, and foes. This is a time when the picket signs come out. The temple walkways become a make-up of complex intricate paths. People are walking North, South, East, and West dodging stragglers, peddlers, and congregations. Groups of friends and family members stop to talk to each other. Others stroll slowly taking in the spirituality and beauty of the magnificent edifices.

General Conference has much more significance each year. For me General Conference has become much more meaningful, not necessarily because the "message" has changed, but because I have changed.

Counsel provided by the leaders of the Church stimulates self-reflection. For me conference is a time where I learn how to be a better husband, father, son, co-worker, etc. In an attempt to be a better husband, I am looking for ways to enhance my relationship with my wife.

Our relationship is enhanced when we do things together. I have asked my wife to let me blog with her. You know what they say: "Find something that your spouse loves to do, and learn to love it also." Hopefully she won't mind me blogging with her. :)
