Sunday Specials

I've been reading the "Secret of the Sabbath" (By: Richard M. Eyre), and it's definitely one of my new favorite books. It is actually one half of a two-volume book that is bound together. The other half is "What Manner of Man". As I mentioned in an earlier post, growing up the Sabbath day was always a sacred day for my family. I must admit that as a mom and wife, I have not always maintained a specific routine to help my family keep the Sabbath holy. I love the way this book helps to correlate the things that we are taught in the scriptures in a way that makes it easy to apply it to my life. Here are some great excerpts that I wanted to share with you all. Let me know what you do to help your family keep the Sabbath the sacred day that our Heavenly Father intended it to be.

" Keeping the Sabbath is far more than going to church and avoiding temporal work. It is a skill and an art that can actually make the other nine commandments easier. Living every seventh day as God intends means far more than resting. It means re-creating in a way that makes the other six days full and fair and meaningful."

  1. that was great. Thanks for the reminder. I love reading your blogs ane...str8 to the point and simply said. Something that I do to help my family keep the sabbath holy is play church music in the mornings, and we clean the whole house on Saturday so we don't have to do it on Sunday!! It works well :)

  2. What a great post. I love that quote. Thank you for sharing that book you read. Keeping the Sabbath day holy really is an art. It's not about a list of dos and don'ts or even simply resting. It's so much more. The quote says it beautifully!
