Our 1st grader's First Day!
Our oldest daughter Pearlie started her first day of school today as a first grader! She is very excited to have a new class and new teacher. We met her teacher last week and she was able to choose her own seat. She picked the desk closest to the teacher’s desk. We spoke with the teacher and she told Pearlie that she would be her little helper because she was sitting next to her. She wore her brand new outfit, which she picked with daddy and I fixed her hair in a new hairstyle for the first day. My husband got a great deal on her new school gear and she was all prepared. We (me and the send off crew *above*) walked her to the bus stop and gave her kisses and hugs goodbye! It will be so much fun when they are all in school together. I can't believe how fast our kids have grown!
Last night my husband gave her a father's blessing for the school year and she felt really calm and relaxed today. It was such a special and beautiful blessing. I remember my dad doing the same for me and I remember when I was younger thinking about my own future husband doing the same thing for my own kids. I am so thankful that my husband holds the Priesthood. I am truly grateful to my Heavenly Father for the blessings of the Priesthood in my life and for blessing me with an incredibly wonderful husband. He is an amazing husband to our children and I love him so much!
ohh so sweet and beautiful!
ReplyDeletesweet pictures. Your children are beautiful. I hope she had a great first day. My girls start up again in 2 weeks. One going into fourth, and one also starting 1st--she's so excited.
ReplyDeleteShe looks so darling! All ready~
ReplyDeleteDarling pictures. She looks so grown up. We start next week. My husband always gives our boys blessings too. My dad did as well, even when we got to college, he still gave us blessings before we left for the school year.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful, and such a grown up. Did you cry when she left. I have a hard time with 1st grade. I have 7 children, 5 girls, then 2 boys, #4 is going to kindergarten next week, and next year I will have all 5 girls in the same school, I can't wait, they seem to take care of each other.
ReplyDeleteI have two things to say: First, 1st Grade?! I'm dreading the day... even though it's exciting and wonderful!! Second: That's so awesome that you did the "School Blessing"!! My dad always gave us blessings the sunday night before school started, and you know what? We are all "grown up" and old now, but before fall school starts, we still all get together and get father's blessings- for school, for football, for life... it's become a wonderful tradition (and a great excuse to get a blessing I always seem to need anyway) from Dad! It's something your kids may not think much of now, but they will always remember and treasure those blessings and that time-

Devri: That's awesome, that will be so weird when they are all in school together, but I think they will have a blast! Girls are awesome!
Brittany: What a wonderful tradition! Your family sounds cool! I love that your dad continues to do so! My dad no longer can due to his health. So I definitely cherish it!
