A "Surprise" Golden Anniversary
My parents were married, May 21st, 1959 in Tonga. They didn't have much money, so they never had a reception. This year was their 50th anniversary. May 21st came and went and mom seemed a little sad that we hadn't done anything for their anniversary. Little did she know we already had made plans to celebrate in July. Two weeks ago we had their surprise 50th wedding anniversary party. As you can see from the photos, they were definitely surprised! Mom thought everyone was in town for the 24th of July Pioneer day celebration. The day of the party I had told my mom that we were going to go take photos of them and then take them to dinner, and I told her make sure, they wore their matching Hawaiian outfits. They were picked up for "photos and dinner", or so they thought. Here are a few great photos of their party, my favorites are their entrance. I am grateful for my family for all their hard work in putting together this once in a lifetime celebration. Enjoy the photos...(Taken by my sister in law Xochitl.)
Awww... this is so sweet, and your parents look so happy!

ReplyDeleteHey. I'm slow to upload them....we've been out of town for a couple weeks, ;). Anyways, I have some cute pics of them cutting the cake and feeding each other. As soon as I get them up, I'll email them your way!

What a wonderful celebration and worthy reason. I can only hope the hubs and I make it to 50 years! My husband's folks celebrated their 55th anniversary this spring. Such and exciting event- so much hope embodied in enduring marriages.
